Wayne Ray Wilberg
Castle Dale: Wayne Ray Wilberg, 87, passed away peacefully at home Monday, May 13, 2013. He was born January 15, 1926 at the Wilberg Ranch in Castle Dale, Utah as the third child to Warren Hilary and Lila Rowley Wilberg. He graduated from North Emery High School where he received many athletic awards for participating in basketball, and track. He was very proud to have served in the United States Marines in the South Pacific at Iwo Jima and Okinawa, Japan. On his return he attended Snow College where he was on the football team. He married Elaine Cox Wilberg on September 16, 1949 in the Manti Temple. They were married for 63 years. He was a farmer and a rancher and raised purebred Herefords and Angus cattle. He served as the Castle Dale Police Department for 17 years and he also was in the jeep posse for many years. He drove coal truck and worked construction. His family was his pride and joy. He adored and loved his daughters and grandchildren. He and Elaine seldom missed going to all of their children's and grandchildren's athletic events and other activities. He was very charitable and generous to others. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He participated in the Castle Valley Pageant for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine and his 4 loving daughters, Teresa Bradley Harward,(Denzil) Castle Dale; Sandra Swasey (Merrill), Castle Dale; Tammy Merrell (Duane), Spanish Fork; Nadine Thompson (Les) Castle Dale. 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, son-in-law, Reiner Bradley, brothers, Kay Wilberg, LaGrand Wilberg, and sisters, Joyce Olsen and Janet Taylor.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Castle Dale Stake Center at 11:00am with a viewing prior to the services 9:30-10:30 and also on Thursday evening at the Fausett Mortuary, Castle Dale, Utah 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Castle Dale City Cemetery.
