Vicky Lee Durrant Huntington -Sweetheart, Mother, Sister, Daughter, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend... These were the names by which Vicky Lee Durrant was known by the people whose lives she touched during her time on this earth. After a valiant battle with ALS, Vicky Lee Durrant returned peacefully home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the age of 65, at her home in Huntington, Utah surrounded by loved ones. Vicky was born July 28, 1948 to Allen Reve Cox and Dessia Taylor Cox in Price, Utah. She married Claron Gene Durrant in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on January 30, 1970. Vicky was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held several callings including callings in the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary organizations. A calling that was dear to her heart was the Sunday School class which she taught until her illness prevented her from continuing. Vicky enjoyed working with her hands, especially embroidering. One of the secret talents she possessed was the ability to make her famous potato salad, without which no family summer gathering was complete. Perhaps one of her greatest talents was the ability to make a stranger into a friend, to make those who met her feel welcome and valued. While Vicky held other jobs in her life, she felt that her most important job was that of being a loving and supporting wife, mother, and grandmother. She supported her sweetheart, Claron through 41 years of teaching, numerous church callings, and with him raised their six children. She helped guide her children through stitches and smiles, broken bones and break-ups, failures and breakthroughs, moments of sorrow and celebration. Growing up, her children knew she was always in their corner. The grandchildren she cherished knew that grandma was always good for unlimited hugs and perhaps a treat or two. Her encouragement and unwavering support were a blessing to her family. Vicky loved being a part of the 'Domino Divas' who met together often to play dominoes, but more importantly to visit, share, and shake the rafters with laughter. Vicky felt especially fortunate to have met a dear friend when she first moved to Huntington, Carol Grange, who she thought of as a sister. During her final illness she was blessed to be visited by friends and family who each let her know what a wonderful influence she was in their lives. The impact she had on the lives of those who knew her is immeasurable. Vicky is survived by her husband Claron Durrant; children - Alana (Jedd) Olsen of Huntington, Melinda Durrant of Green River, Dennis (Crisanne) Durrant of Huntington, Stephen (Jenny) Durrant of Logan, Errol (Megan) Durrant of Huntington, Sharol (Jared) Sorensen of Orem; 19 grandchildren; and brothers James (Claudia) Cox, Lehi, and Paul (Nelly) Cox, North Salt Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the CNS Home Health and Hospice nurses and aides who took such loving care of Vicky during her final days. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center, 240 North Main Street, Huntington, Utah with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services. A viewing will also be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at the Huntington LDS Stake Center. Interment will follow at the Huntington Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
