Veloy Mae Grundvig Wilder
Veloy Mae Grundvig Wilder passed away April 19, 2016 at her son's home in Idaho. Born November 19, 1935 to Leonard Allen and Geneve Arnold Grundvig she was the youngest of seven children. Married Rich Wilder February 27, 1960 with having their marriage solemnized in the LDS Manti Temple February 26, 1977. She loved and followed him through many travels to the lakes for fishing and to the mountains for hunting, waiting patiently for the return with the day's gains most often with the meal prepared and ready for hungry bellies.
Growing up in the middle of the family owned businesses Veloy learned early about the importance of customer service and carried this skill into her adult life working at Fawn's Cafe and Intermountain Farmers Association with customers often requesting Veloy specifically.
Veloy had an unwavering loyalty and love of country instilled into her by her father. The American Legion Women's Auxiliary honored her with a plaque in 2014 for her many years of service which at the time of her death was 64 years. She started at a young age at the side of her father honoring the veterans on Memorial Day by placing crosses and flags on their graves annually, later in her adult life with her husband at her side until physical abilities wavered and this was passed along to her son Brent and his family.
As a citizen of Wellington her whole life Veloy loved her community and did whatever it took to make everyone aware of its greatness. Veloy was honored with her husband as Grand Marshal of the annual Pioneer Day Parade and again individually later in life.
Quilt making was a passion that provided many with handmade treasures and continued until the last year of her life. Many family members snuggle nightly with Veloy's handiwork. Reunions were her focus for the Summer months and family getting together was one of the highlights of her life.
Survived by her children - LeeAnn Jacobson Midvale Utah, Rich (Jeanette) Wilder Jr. Huntsville Utah, Connie (Richard) Bartholomew Bountiful Utah, Allen (Leslie) Wilder Tetonia Idaho and Brent (Mary) Wilder Wellington, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Geneve Grundvig, beloved husband Rich Wilder, 4 sisters and 2 brothers, one grandson and one great granddaughter.
