Thomas James Holdaway passed away on September 26th, 2021 at Castleview Hospital in Price, UT. He died after fighting valiantly with many health issues. He was born November 2, 1947 in Price, UT to Thomas Rodney Holdaway and AnnaBelle Atwood. He was sealed to Carolyn Nielson on May 28, 1971 in the Manti Temple. She passed away March 25, 1999. He married Loyette Stenquist on October 1, 1999 in the Manti Temple for time. They were later sealed in Manti on August 1, 2001.
Tom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held many positions from High Counselor to Technical Advisor. He held positions in banking, business, painting, contracting, and mining. He was the control room operator at Deer Creek Coal Mine for many years. He was a man of many talents and hobbies. He loved building motor bikes, attending car shows and participating in parades with his historic motorcycle. He was known by many as Tinker Tom, Uncle Gadget, and Grandpa Tom.
Tom never came upon a problem he couldn't solve, or wasn't willing to try to figure out, especially when it came to technology and computers. He was incredibly smart and wasn't afraid to share his knowledge.
Tom's example of service and generosity are legendary, even when he didn't feel well, he was giving of himself. He was a happy man who always had a positive outlook on life. Tom loved his family dearly and was so loved in return. His love extended beyond family to include many close friends. His grandchildren adored him. His family admired his example and were so blessed to have him as their patriarch. He will be incredibly missed and we look forward to reuniting with him again.
He is survived by his wife Loyette, daughter Melanie(Bryan) Bernard, son Jason(Krista) Holdaway and step children Jason(Suzy) Myerhoff, Heather(Chuck) Wood, Bryce(Cassi) Myerhoff, Holli(Ike) Whitehorn and 25 grandchildren, his mother AnnaBelle Cox, siblings Annie(Ray) Sorenson, Will(Janine) Holdaway, Tim(Richele) Holdway. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Nielson, father Thomas Holdaway, and sister Penny Christensen.
The funeral will be held Thursday, September 30th, 2021 at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held Wednesday September 29th from 6-8 pm and Thursday, September 30th from 10:00 - 10:45 am. The funeral and viewings will be held at the Huntington 1st ward building 115 S. 400 E.
