Theodore (Ted) Thomas Orangeville/Elmo- Theodore (Ted) Thomas Jr., age 84 passed away October 5, 2009 at the Beehive Home in Elmo, Utah. He was born November 21, 1924 in Hiawatha, Utah to Theodore Thomas Sr. and Christina Jensen Thomas. He married Fae Paulsen in Hiawatha, Utah on July 12, 1946. Later their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Ted was raised in the coal mining communities of Carbon County and educated in the Carbon County school district. He joined the Navy shortly after his seventeenth birthday and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II aboard the USS Laffey. He worked as a coal miner for most of his life in the coal mines in Carbon and Emery counties. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and held various callings. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid animal lover and always had horses and dogs around. He was a great sports fan and he always cheered for the underdog to win. He loved his family and cared especially for his grandchildren. If he called you his friend, you were his friend for life. He is survived by his three children, Amy Michelle Hoyt (Marvin) Petersen, Paonia, CO. Ted (Donna) Thomas, Castle Dale, UT and Louise Ann (Doug) Gardner, Evanston, WY. Sisters: Isabel Perry, Lavon Krause and Connie (Keith) Robertson, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Fae, his two brothers Elwood and David and a great-grandson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Orangeville Second Ward Chapel (100 South Main, Orangeville, UT). A viewing will be held on October 9, 2009 between the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 North Center Street, Castle, Dale, UT) and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior the services at the church. Interment will be in the Orangeville City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Ted at www.fausettmortuary.com.
