Terry W. Ames
Mt. Pleasant
Terry W. Ames, 73, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 11:34 a.m. surrounded by his family. Terry was born August 14, 1940, in Manti to Ralph and Erma Ames. He graduated from North Sanpete High School and Brigham Young University. He married his high school sweetheart, Connie Johansen, on January 22, 1960. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on January, 21, 1961.
Terry was a teacher who never missed an opportunity to share his wisdom and experience with others. Rather than hiring builders to erect a cabin, he chose to allow his family the blessings over a 10 year period of building his mountain getaway. His background in mechanical engineering and mathematics proved invaluable as a thousand different problems needed solving.
Thanks to Terry's likeable personality and vast experiences he excelled in his career in sales. During his life, Terry was able to see much of the world including the United States, Europe, Australia, and Asia. But Terry's heart was always with his family. Either at their cabin or on their boat at Fish Lake, Terry was the happiest when he was with family.
Terry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many capacities but his favorite was the scouting program. As an Eagle Scout himself, he was a great example to his family. Today there are thirteen members of his posterity that have followed in his footsteps and also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Survived by his wife, Connie, and their children: Tammy (Steve) Anderson of Moreno Valley, CA, Angie (Jim) Olsen of Estherville, IA, Alan (Colette) Ames of Mt. Pleasant, UT, Alison (Tim) Bennett of Spanish Fork, UT, David (Mindy) Ames of Mt. Pleasant, UT, 23 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Stephen L. (Joan) Ames of South Jordan, UT.
Proceeded in death by his parents and brother Ronald K. Ames.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7, 2014, at 12:00 noon in the Mt. Pleasant 5th Ward Chapel at the red church on State Street. The viewing will be held on Monday morning from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the red church. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Steven J Furner of Fausett Mortuary.
