Selma Tuttle
Orangeville: Our sweet, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Selma Tuttle passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday October 3, 2014. Selma was the sixth of sixteen children born to Jesse Randolph Sitterud and Edna Stilson on January 17, 1923 in Orangeville Utah.
Selma graduated from Central High in Castle Dale and married Milton Bland Tuttle on September 16, 1943 in the Manti LDS Temple. They enjoyed sixty-six years of marriage before Bland's passing in October of 2009.
Selma and Bland were blessed with three sons who were the light of her life, and her daughters-in-law whom she considered her daughters. Paul (Charlene) of Syracuse Utah, Kevin (Karen) and Mark (Dickcie) both of Orangeville Utah. Selma was blessed with ten grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Selma was a faithful and devoted member of the LDS church holding many leadership positions throughout her life. One of her most cherished callings was that of ordinance worker in the Manti LDS Temple where she served faithfully with her husband for 13 years. Selma was devoted to her family and she loving cared for her Mother as she passed away from cancer and also her Mother-in-law for many years before her passing from heart disease.
Selma loved her grandchildren and to them she was known as the popsicle, ice cream, pop and candy grandma. She had a sense of humor that kept her family in stitches right up until the day she passed away. There were so many stories that her grandchildren will laugh about and cherish for years.
Monday was Selma's favorite day because it was the day she spent with her many sisters and her children called it "Sitterud Sister Day" which was a tradition for many, many years. Nothing was more important to her than Monday except maybe Friday because that was the day she got her hair done.
We will miss the toilet tissue she put around her hair at night so as not to mess up her hair as she slept, her delicious chicken noodle soup, home made bread and so many wonderful things that made her so dear.
Heaven is a little more fun today, and our world has lost our fun beautiful angel.
Selma was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband's parents, siblings: LaVar Sitterud, Ray & Myrleen Sitterud, Sheril & Bessie McArthur, Elva (infant sister), Clyde (infant brother), Sally & Kenneth Ryan, Karen and Jerald Barton, Lola Sitterud, Fred Cox, Bill Jones and one grandson Trever Tuttle. She is survived by her siblings: Donna Sitterud, Neldon Sitterud, Mac (Mary) Sitterud, Ruth Cox, Phyllis and Jerry May, Velda Sitterud, Sue (Edward) Johnson, Connie Jones, Colleen (Leon) Defriez.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation to Heidi Cubel for her love and compassion in helping our Mother pass peacefully from this world into the next.
