Ferron-Sarah Gladys Harvey, age 79, passed away on May 5, 2014 in Ferron, Utah. She was born on September 17, 1934 to Marion Victor Kent and Lenna Mae Jones in Huntington, Utah. Sarah was sealed in the Los Angeles Temple and is the mother of four children: Rachel D. Harvey of Sacramento, California, Ramona J. Harvey (deceased), Nancy I. (Wesley) Welsh of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Brian C. Harvey (deceased). She also was a grandmother of six and great-grandmother of nine.
Sarah was the oldest of five children. Her siblings are Julia (Judy) Roell (deceased), Arthur Kent of Clifton, Colorado, Vicky Jacobsen of Emery, Utah, and Martha Ellis of Adrian, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her sister and two children.
Sarah was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served the Lord faithfully all her life. Among her many callings were Relief Society President, editor of her Ward and Stake newsletter, and full time senior missionary. Most recently Sarah had served as an Arbitrator and Indexer for the Family Search indexing program. Sarah was a resident of the Emery County Care Center in Ferron, Utah and served there as a president of the Resident Council.
Sarah served her country as a WAAF during the Korean War era. She was secretary for the motor pool at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Friday May 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bluehills LDS Chapel (35 West 200 North, Ferron, Utah). A viewing will be held prior to the services at the church on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
