Ronald Carpenter

Ronald Percy Carpenter HUNTINGTON - Ronald Percy Carpenter, age 71, passed away on September 25, 2011. Ron was born July 28, 1940 to Percy and Rosemarie Claycomb Carpenter in Dunlo, Pennsylvania. He married Carla Oldham. After their divorce, he married Kay Fuller whom he also later divorced. He then married Joanne Pace on June 11, 1988 in Price, Utah. Ron was an active member in Locals 6394 and 2176 of United Mine Workers of America serving on Health and Safety Committees. He worked for Wilberg Mine at the time of the disaster in 1984, and he was able to help with the rescue efforts. He was a member of Sinbad Radio Club, Huntington Lions Club, and the San Rafael Car Club. Ron loved serving as an Assistant Scout Master of Den 304 for 11 years. He looked forward to putting up flags throughout Huntington every holiday. He was passionate about classic cars and had his own special way of restoring them. He enjoyed mowing grass, plowing snow, repairing small engines, and fixing lawn mowers for anyone in need. Ron also fixed bikes for children at Christmas time. We will miss his loud singing and his laughter. His last hours were spent doing what he loved: fishing, hunting, spending time in the outdoors, and, most especially, being with those he loved. The family extends special thanks to North Sanpete Rescue Units, North Sanpete Hospital staff, and to those at the accident site for their compassionate care and service in Ron's time of need. Also to Dr. Glenn Etzel, his staff and the folks at Lincare for their compassion and care in Ron's behalf. Ron is survived by his wife, Joanne; children: Cathy (Owen Knisely) Reighard of Beaverdale, Pennsylvania, Rose Liebal of Ft. Hood, Texas, Jodie Crum of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jamie (Tab) Jensen of Cleveland, Utah, Ronald P. Carpenter, Jr. of Newcastle, Delaware, Colleen (Louis) Duman of Mineral Point, Pennsylvania, and Skylar Carpenter of Savannah, Georgia; a brother, Gary (Barbara) Carpenter of Midlothian, Virginia; two sisters-in-law: Yvonne Carpenter of Maryland and Patricia Carpenter of North East, Maryland; 17 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Dale Carpenter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 N. Center St., Castle Dale). There will be a viewing Friday, September 30, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday prior to the services from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m., both at the mortuary.
