Robert Lee Mattox "Pappy" FERRON: Robert Lee Mattox, 85 passed away quietly on Tuesday June 21, 2011. Born July 29, 1925 in Independence, MO to Marvin and Opal (Newton) McCart. "Bob" met Geraldine Ann Sundell, the woman of his dreams, on a blind date over Thanksgiving and were married one month later on December 22, 1945. They were inseparable for the 65 years together, and could be found dancing the night away for many of those years. Navy Veteran of World War II, he worked hanging drywall until he retired. "Pappy" played on pool and bowling leagues in his younger days and loved golfing, fishing, camping and hunting. He was a devoted and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend who had a great love for his animals. Survived by his wife Geraldine "Gerry" of Ferron, sons Gary (Betty) of Ferron, John (Lisa) of Grantsville, Michael (Vickie) of Carlsbad NM, Robert (Jennie) of Milford, IA; daughters Barbara (Don) Petty of Emery, Karen (Sammy) Caldwell of Stansbury Park, Penny (Kevin) Stewart of Stockton; 40 grandkids, 83 great grandkids, and 12 great, great grandkids. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter in law Sammie Kay, granddaughters Denise and Diane, and great granddaughter Paige Cedy. The family would like to send a special thank you to Diane Tadehara and Melinda Allridge from Rocky Mountain Hospice and the staff at the Emery County Care & Rehab for showing Dad so much love and respect. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Ferron Millsite LDS Ward Chapel (35 W. 200 N). A viewing will be Friday, June 24, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ferron Millsite LDS Ward building, and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services, also at the church. Interment will be in the Ferron City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Bob at www.fausettmortuary.com.
