Richard LaMar Fairbanks passed away in Vernal, Utah November 8, 2022 following a long bout with dementia. He was born to LeRoy Smith Fairbanks, Jr. and Elvina Monroe on January 18, 1945. Rich was married to Patrice Cluff from 1968-1999 and Susan Hollingworth from 1999-2018.
He grew-up in Meridian and Star, Idaho, a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the Eastern Atlantic States Mission and graduated from BYU. After graduation he became a school teacher. He moved around the first few years but then put down roots in Mona, Utah, teaching at Juab County High School in Nephi, and then moved to Orangeville, Utah, teaching for decades at Emery County High School, in Castle Dale, and running the auto shop there, where he loved both the students and the cars.
He is survived by all of his children: Daren (Nathalie), of Las Vegas, Nevada, Darla Stevenson, of Grand Junction, Colorado, Scott (Sandi) of Clifton, Colorado, Brent (Amy) of Huntington, Utah, Ryan (Brooke), of Vernal, Utah and Robert "Bobby", of Rochester, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and siblings Janet (Lane) Allred, Virginia, Dale (Rosetta), Rosemary (Steve) Barfuss, Diane (Doug) Brinton; sisters-in-law Ann (Roger), and Linda (Kenny) and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Roger LeRoy, Kenneth Eugene, Wayne Monroe, sister-in-law Elaine Watson and ex-wife, Susan, nephews Daniel, Joseph and Alex and nieces Jenny, and Melissa.
Services will be held at the Orangeville chapel, Saturday, November 19th, 2022. There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and the funeral will be from 11:00 a.m. until noon, followed by interment at the Orangeville City Cemetery.
