EMERY- On August 30, 2019, after 76 years of valiant service, Richard Aldous Cox, unexpectedly returned to our Father in Heaven.
Richard was born on July 24, 1943 in Castle Dale, Utah to Edward Dean Cox and Margaret Lucas Magnuson. He was raised in Castle Dale.
He married Sharon Ann Reid in January of 1961 of which he was married for 17 years and had one child, Richard Shayne Cox. He then married the love of his life, Hazel Luora Henningson, on the 10th of November 1978. They were later sealed, for time and all eternity, in the Manti, Utah Temple on the 15th of January 1994.
Richard was always known as a hard worker. He worked in the coal mines for most his life. He would go on to co-own and operate Beehive Cement Works.
Richard was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he faithfully served in many callings within the church, his most notable being bishop of the Emery Ward for 9 years. He was most beloved by the members of the town for his dedication and countless hours of service.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel, Emery; siblings John (Tawna) Magnuson, Helper; Kathy (Norman) Vuksinick, Castle Dale; children, Karl (Shelley) Stringham, New Hampshire; Ileen Baker, Emery; Mac (Deanee) Stringham, Arizona; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kent Cox; Sisters, Mardean Cox, Sharon Cox Fox, Ellen Faye Magnuson, and his son, Richard Shayne Cox.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Emery Ward Chapel, 70 North Center St., Emery, UT. Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2019 from 6 - 8 P.M. at Fausett Mortuary, 720 North Center, Castle Dale and at the Ward Chapel Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. prior to services.
