On the beautiful fall afternoon of Tuesday November 15th, our sweet momma, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt
and friend, Rayona Taylor Gale Anderson, slipped peacefully into our Heavenly Fathers loving arms at the
age of 92. She was born in Castle Gate, Utah on June 27, 1929 to Ruby Theora Seeley and William Melvin Taylor.
She was born to a family of four girls and has three sisters, Arlene, Rita Mae and Dixie, with Rayona being the
second oldest. When she was a baby, the family moved to the small mining town of Consumers, Utah but soon
returned to Castle Gate. Rayona didn't learn to talk until she was a bit older. They had a neighbor lady who cursed
all the time and mom would stand at the open window listening to her, so naturally moms first words were curse
words!
Rayona attended elementary school and had a wonderful childhood growing up in Castle Gate. She would
take any dare she was given and was often found lying in the middle of the road waiting to see if a car would stop or
go over her! She would tighten up her stomach and let the boys punch her to see just how tough she was. She was
the tomboy of the town!
She attended Jr. High in Helper and Sr. High school in Price and was a very good student, often getting straight A's! Rayona was a gorgeous girl and often had many suitors, she was sweet and beautiful.
Rayona married LaVoy B. Gale at the age of 18 in the Manti Temple on July 22nd, 1947. They lived in Helper,
and Martin, Utah. They had seven children; Brent, Linda, Debbie, Randy, Penny, LaVoy (Butch) and Terry. They
later divorced and mom's parents bought her a home in Castle Gate. Mom was a loving, caring, very patient and
hard working mother. She later met John Anderson and they were married on November 21,1969 in Castle Gate.
They were sealed in the Manti Temple on January 9,1988.
John had 9 children; Grace, Bonnie, Gay Linn, Laura Lee, Roger, Joleen, Boyd, Kelly and Sandra. They moved their
large family to John's home in Huntington, Utah. Several children were married or out of the house by this time, but 10 out of 16 is still a large number of children in one house! When Rayona was 42, after two years of marriage, she and John decided to add to their already large family and Kara Rae was born to a house full of siblings! Rayona loved being a mom and she was very good at it. Five years later another sweet baby girl arrived. Camie Danielle joined the large family when Rayona was 47 years old! What joy and happiness these two have brought to their parents.
Our mom, what a wonderful lady! She loved gardening, and had a green thumb like no other. She'd have kids
polishing plants until they shined! Her flower garden was beyond amazing! Her tomato plants were larger than you
can imagine and just as productive. She raised all of us kids with only one bathroom and no shower, and still
managed to make sure we stayed clean! She was an incredible seamstress and very picky, just ask those of us
girls who learned how to sew! She was amazing and worked until she was 70 yrs old. She tried to retire earlier,
but they begged her to come back. Mom has always been a worker! She mopped the kitchen floor every morning and can you imagine the laundry and the cooking?
Rayona was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a quiet, sweet
testimony of our Savior. She served in many positions, her last being the Nursery Leader with John at age 85! Lucky
kids! After all, they were expert kid lovers. Mom kept our household laughing with her simple naiveness. Always
doing something silly by choice or by accident you could never be sure. Not a more loving kind sweet soul could
have done what she has done. Loving many and blessing so many lives. We are more than honored to call her our
sweet momma, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend! We will be ever so grateful.
