"Papa Ray"
Price- Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Ray Leonard, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, from complications following surgery.
Ray was born on March 17, 1926, to Eunice Allred and Irving Leonard in Price, Utah. He grew up with six sisters who adored and pampered him. He attended schools in Carbon County. He enlisted in the Army during World War II at the age of 17. He was always proud to have served his country.
Ray married Nadine Collier, together they had four children -Lana, Pat, Teri, and Jim. Later divorced. He married Donna Bolotas, later divorced. Together they had one child, Vicki. Ray always had a special place for Donna's children; he loved Donna's children as his own.
Ray worked in the coal mines at Wattis and Hiawatha. He also worked for the Utah State Road Dept. He was a member of UMWA and the American Legion.
He is survived by his children; Lana (Kenn) Kofford, Pat (Charlotte) Leonard, Teri (Tom) McElprang, Jim (Debbi) Shenk, Vicki Spear, step children; Christine (Terry) Shaw, George Anne Cardwell, Stephanie (Dave) Karcich, Alexis (Randy) Gruniger, Debbie (Allen) Staker, Arty (Terri) Bolotas, and their families, 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, sisters; Melba Shaw, June Bell, Jean (Myron) Dodge, Monty Basso, Bonnie (Ron) Murray and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed. A special thanks to his friends and associates at the Price Senior Citizens Center.
Preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and four brother-in-laws.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Price LDS 3rd Ward Chapel (303 West 500 South). A viewing will be Friday, February 27, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (680 East 100 South - Price) also one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
