Phyllis Singleton Stanton
FERRON - Phyllis Singleton Stanton died on January 21, 2011 at Emery County Care Center in Ferron. She was born October 3, 1921 to Morris and Mae Singleton in Ferron, Utah where she lived until her death. Phyllis married Gerald Stanton on March 13, 1939 in Payson, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS temple with their three daughters. While Gerald served in the Navy, Phyllis was able to spend some time with him in Bremerton, Washington. Phyllis and Gerald celebrated sixty years of marriage before Gerald's death in 1999.
Phyllis and Gerald operated the Singleton General Store in Ferron, which was founded by Phyllis's grandfather, Samuel Singleton in the 1890's and was considered a landmark in Ferron for many years. Phyllis had various callings in the LDS Church throughout her life. She served as a counselor in the Primary and MIA, and as Relief Society President for the Ferron Ward. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Phyllis is survived by three daughters: Barbara Ann Nielsen of Poway, California, Geraldine Opp of San Luis Obispo, California and Joy Wells of East Carbon, Utah; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters: Eleanore George of Ferron, Utah and Colleen Jorgensen of Nikiski, Alaska; and brother, Sam Singleton of Ferron, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters: Roma Wakefield and Geniel Beach.
Phyllis enjoyed the companionship of her many friends in Emery County. She was the happiest when she was serving others and was grateful for the love and support of her many friends and family in the last years of her life.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ferron Millsite Ward Chapel (35 West 200 North - Ferron, Utah.) A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Ferron Cemetery.
