Pearl Stagg

October 25, 1914 — June 10, 2013

Pearl D. Gibson Stagg CARBONVILLE-Pearl D. Gibson Stagg was born on October 25, 1914 to Alexander and Elizabeth Brown Gibson in Winter Quarters, Utah. She passed away on June 10, 2013 in Carbonville, Utah, with her daughter at her side, at the age of 98. She married Albert G. Stagg on August 4, 1937; their union was sealed for time and eternity in the Manti LDS Temple on October 25, 1994, her 80th birthday. Three children were born to Albert and Pearl or Dot as her family called her. Two boys James and Donald and a girl named Frances comprised their family. She lived in Winter Quarters, Castle Gate, and Carbonville, Utah. Her life was a life of service; caring for others and doing for others. She was an active member of the LDS church and served in the Primary, Sunday School, Young Women's, and Relief Society, she especially loved teaching the youth. Usually at 98 years old, you have outlived most of your family and all of your friends, not Pearl. On her 98th birthday she received over 80 birthday cards, most who recounted something she had made for them, taught them or exemplified for them. She was truly a beloved lady. Pearl also had a phenomenal memory. She remembered poems she had memorized in Junior High, scriptures, articles of faith, state capitals, temples, US presidents. She knew them all. On her 98th birthday she recited the alphabet - backwards-without a flaw or hesitation. She was very independent and lived independently in her own home most of her 98 years. Self-taught and very talented at needlework, she enjoyed knitting and quilting. She won three "Best of Show" awards at the County Fair, one knitted afghan the second for a knitted sweater and the third for a quilt. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, and although she enjoyed her flowers, most of her work was to "keep her weeds from getting into the neighbors yards". Always thinking of others. She is survived by her son Don and daughter Fran, along with 5 grandchildren: Brett (Sari) Stagg, Shereen (Chad) Matheson, Kristin (Jon) Taylor, Mala Stagg, and Ben Stagg, 6 great-grandchildren: Brandon and Josh Mosier, Hannah and J.J. Taylor, Addison and Paige Stagg. Preceded in death by her father and mother, all eight siblings: Nell Smith, Lou Davis, Frank Grow, Kate Orton, Al James, Hoot Gibson, Tubby Gibson and Jim Gibson. Her son Jimmy passed away in November 1970 and her husband Albert in January 1999 and daughter-in-law, Lois in September 2009. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gordon Creek Ward (175 North 1280 West.) A viewing will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price (680 East 100 South) and also on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held in the Price City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Pearl at www.fausettmortuary.com.
