Patrick Whitten
PRICE- Our loving husband, father, son and friend, Patrick Frank Whitten, age 31, passed away July 31, 2024, in Price.
He was born in Price, Utah to Bobby and Peggy Lupo Whitten on December 8, 1992.
Patrick graduated from Carbon High School. He married his best friend & person, Megan on December 3, 2011, in Price. Together they raised their 2 beautiful babies, Lyla and Carter. Megan and Patrick shared a beautiful life & relationship together for almost 14 years. From the beginning of their relationship, they realized that no relationship is perfect, but if you truly love someone you don’t give up without fighting for each other first. No matter what life threw their way, they always put aside their differences and focused on the love they had for one another to allow their relationship to continue to thrive and make their love and connection stronger.
From a young age Patrick dreamed of being a coal miner. His mining career started in March of 2011. Which took him & Megan all over, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, & Nevada. Everywhere they went Patrick attracted friends that turned him & Megan into family, that they still consider family to this day.
While living in Montana in 2015 Lyla Brooke was born, which made them want to move back to Price to be able to raise their family where they grew up. Carter Vaughn joined next in 2019. Patrick took pride in being the best dad that he could be. He looked forward to taking his kids hunting, camping & on all sorts of adventures. He loved teaching them about all the little aspects of life.
He loved hiking and shed hunting with his best friends Jakey boy & Randall. He looked forward to his annual shed hunting trips to Nevada with Randall every May, even if they had to tent it in extreme weathers.
His brothers were everything to him, including Housten his bonus brother. He would drop everything to help them or just hang out with them.
Patrick had the biggest heart and an old soul, always helping people out when they needed it. Whether he knew them or not. If he saw someone stranded or in need of help, he always stopped to see if he could help in any way. He said he just hoped one day someone would return the favor when he needed it.
For the last two and a half years he worked for Gentry Mountain Mining, where many of the workers looked up to his strong and rare work ethic. He was always willing to put in the extra work and hours to do his part to keep the mine running. He loved sharing with his Mining family the knowledge and tricks that he had obtained over the years from working at some of the top producing coal mines in the country. He loved working with his Uncle Charlie and brother Brian at Gentry. Charlie is responsible for his obsession with coal mining. Patrick was a proud 3rd generation coal miner, even though he hated his tattoo.
He loved sharing his childhood memories with his brothers & Housten to make everyone laugh. It didn't matter how many times the same story was told, it was always funny.
Patrick loved being the life of the party, his quick-witted sense of humor always had everyone rolling with laughter.
Anyone that knew him, knew he had a sweet tooth. He would not be found without his pink skittles and a NOS. A lot of people called him "Candy Man" over the years because he was never without candy, and he'd always share.
Patrick had an obsession with having a nice yard. He loved mowing his grass and watching YouTube videos of how to get his grass to grow better. He was in the process of creating his own little farm for his kids. He always wanted his kids growing up playing in the dirt and not living in city limits.
There was nothing that Patrick wasn't capable of doing, if he didn't know how to do it he'd watch a couple YouTube videos and then get it done. He took on many home projects over the years remodeling their first home. And even though everyone else thought he had done an amazing job, he'd always point out the smallest mistake that no one would notice until he had pointed it out.
Over the last couple years he struggled and fought so hard, even though he had so many people that loved and cared about him and offered him support.
Megan and the family would like to thank his friends and underground family that noticed him struggling and reached out to try and help. A special thanks to Dillion Larsen for going the extra mile and helping Megan with Patrick in whatever way he could.
Survived by his wife, Megan; their children, Lyla & Carter who were his whole world and the reason he fought for so long; his Father, Bobby & Bobby's partner Kimbo; his brothers, Michael (Markita), Shannon (McCall), and Brian; his aunt & uncle, Delorus & Charles; cousin and pal for life, Courtnie (Cody) & her daughter Haidyn; his bonus mom, Marcie; best friend and brother, Housten; bonus sister, LynDee (Matt) & their daughter Amelia; all his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends & underground family; father and mother in law, Doug (Lyn); brothers-in-law, Dan, Bryce, Vaughn (Mariah), and Joel (Brittney).
