Nellie A. Barker "Miss Nellie"



Wellington- Nellie Anne Bay Barker, 81 died August 2, 2021 peacefully at Good Life Senior Living. Nellie was born July 4, 1940 in Bondad, Colorado to Raymond and Goldie Bay. Nellie married Art Barker December 15, 1956 in Durango, Colorado.



Nellie traveled alongside Art to his many Surveying, Pipeline, Construction and Engineering jobs. From 1956-1972 Art, Nellie and their young family worked and lived in over 25 states.



They settled in Wellington in 1972 which gave Nellie the opportunity to return to college to obtain a degree in Cosmetology. She graduated from the College of Eastern Utah June 4th, 1976. She worked in local Salon's until being hired to teach Cosmetology at CEU. She enjoyed many years teaching, and had a great impact on many students. After leaving CEU, she opened Nellie's Hair Etc. Upon retirement, Nellie and Art enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Joe's Valley, boating, fishing, water skiing and 4-wheeling.



Nellie is survived by her children, Chad (Traci) Barker, Karon Barker-Griffin, Gary (Michele) Barker and special nephew Kirk (Christy) Gibson, niece Brenda Petroff, nephew Raymond (Pam) Franco and Wilma Meredith. Grandchildren Nick Barker, Chris (Alisha) Barker, Greg (Tara) Barker and Mindi (Gene) Tullio, Jeremy (Erin) Andreini, Matt (Amanda) Juliano, Bodie Barker, Da'Jene Barker, Ashley Noyes, Thad Gurule, Sierra Gurule, and Johnnie Arambula, Pamela Arambula and many great-grandchildren.



Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Art F. Barker, sister Daisy Franco Slavensky, niece Judy Ford, parents Raymond and Goldie Bay, and mother-in-law Fern Meredith.

Per Moms wishes, there will be no Funeral, but the Family will be holding a Private Family Service.



Nellie was a great Mom and a lifelong Teacher!
