Naoima Mills Oman
Castle Dale, Utah - Naoima Oman, 84, passed away at home, surrounded by her family on March 31, 2022. She was born on July 31, 1937 in Huntington, Utah to David Melvin Mills and Orthella Marshall Mills. She married Bert Oman in 1955, later divorced. Together they had five beautiful and sassy daughters. Jackie DeFriez, Elaine (Kerry) Lake, Barbara Moore, Sherrie Stone and Candy (Kurt) Price.
Mom lived a full life. She was raised on a dairy farm in Huntington and learned the value of hard work. Mom and dad lived in Lark, Utah for a time while dad worked in the mine. She loved her time in Lark and had a lot of friends there. We moved back to Castle Dale in 1972. Mom started working at Castle Dale Elementary in 1977. She was a librarian, secretary, nurse, comforter, listener and took care of the lunch cards. She retired in 2002.
Mom loved to read and taught all of her children to appreciate a good book. She loved to crochet and quilt and made lots of blankets for her family. Mom was an avid crime show watcher. Family can't see Snoopy without thinking of mom. Mom was adamant that we have game days at her house. We spent a lot of time at her table playing games and spending time together. Mom lost most games but always had a good time. There was nothing better than mom's scones and turkey soup. Holidays will never be the same without her.
Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. She loved her calling as a primary teacher and did it for several years. She faithfully studied her scriptures and had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of her, we have a firm knowledge we will see her again. We love her and will miss her every day.
She is survived by her daughters, 19 grandchildren and 44 1/2 great grandchildren. Siblings Bea Tong, Delbert (Susan) Mills, Blanche (Art) LeGrand, Reggie (Janet) Mills. Step-Siblings Glendon Mills, Len (Deanna) Mills, Cline (Rena) Mills, Lorna Gail (Paul) Wood.
