Mervin Cook

August 22, 1922 — January 5, 2009

Mervin D Cook Wellington-Mervin D Cook, age 86, returned to his Heavenly Father on January 5, 2009 at his home in Wellington, with his wife of 59 years at his side. Dad was born on August 22, 1922 in his parents home in Wellington, Utah to William Cook and Emma Myrtle Tidwell, the 8th of 9 children Dad's twin Marion, was born prior to midnight on August 21, 1922 with Dad following in the early hours of August 22, 1922. He married Betty Jane Phillips on May 10, 1950 in Wellington. We became an eternal family on May 26, 1962 in the Manti LDS Temple. Dad did whatever it took to provide for his family from truck driving, house moving, coal miner, construction worker, dam builder, watermelon and plant salesman where he could exercise his love of conversing with people. Dad proudly served his country by serving in the U.S. Army in World War II in the European theatre and the U.S. Army Air Corp in the Korean conflict. He had a great love of the outdoors. He loved to camp, fish and go after fire wood with his family. Dad was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had a great faith in Jesus Christ and shared his testimony in the life he lived. He was a great example to his family of hard work and unconditional love of family. Dad is survived by his loving wife, Betty, sons; Ray (LaRae) Cook and Mac (Jaylene) Cook, daughters; Helen (Bert) Fryer, Jody (Gary) Marx, Kisty Cook, Cindy Nelson, and Dana (Jerry) Belliston, sister, Shirley (Donald) King and brother, Neldon (Betty) Cook, 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 2 1/2 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, three grandsons; Joel Fryer, Billy Fryer and Waylon Belliston, three brothers; Tom, Carl and Marion, his twin, three sisters; Annie Snyder, Edna Johnson and Ruby Livingston. Dad, you have always been the strength and security of our family. We love and miss you. Funeral services will be Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wellington LDS 1st Ward Chapel (50 North 100 East) Wellington, Utah. A viewing will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (680 East 100 South) in Price, Utah on Thursday, January 8, 2008 and one hour prior the services at the church. Interment will be in the Wellington City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
