Merrell Glade Lund
After many years of fighting, Merrell Glade Lund passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 in the company of his loving wife, Melody.
Merrell was born August 2nd,1966 in Nephi, Utah to James Glade Lund and Marilyn (Greenhalgh) Lund.
Merrell grew up in Nephi surrounded by many family and friends. After the passing of his father at a young age, he was raised by his step-father Niel from whom he learned the skills of a Cowboy, playing the part in the rodeos. He loved to fish and hunt by horseback in Utahs beautiful mountains. His handyman skills started young, painting many homes, businesses, and churches with his brother, Allan.
Merrell graduated from Juab High School and went on to have a successful career as a Ironworker for Union Local 27. His career took him through every state in the country, working endlessly and etching his name in America's infrastructure workforce. He made many friends and memories working endlessly to make ends meet, all as a proud American. His family credits him with building America, and playing his part in Emery's history, from the guts of the power plants to the heights of the windmills. After years of living on the road in motels and trailers, he finally settled down where the desert meets the mountains, Emery, Utah with his wife Melody.
His time off was spent with family, usually on his horse, with his mom and brother in the mountains, or road tripping to spend time with his boys in Colorado. When he needed a break, you could usually find him curled up on the couch with his cat, Cooper. His laid back attitude, joking demeanor, playful jokes and gestures, and loving heart made him a joy to be around. He will be greatly missed by all those who were lucky enough to know and love him. For those who didn't, his work will carry throughout the years.
Merrell is survived by his mother, Marilyn (Greenhalgh) Steele; wife, Melody (Johnson); son, Riley (Justina) Lund; daughter, Samantha Marie (John) Witney; step-children, Aaron (Patricia) Johnson, Jeremy (Maggie) Naylor, Chantel (Ronnie) Meeker; step-sisters, Kaylynn Christensen and Juli (Ken) Friel; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-granddaughters.
