Marie Wakefield Cowley
Huntington-Marie Wakefield Cowley age 87, passed away on February 22, 2010 in Price, Utah. Marie was born the second of four children to Clinton N. and Jennie Wells Wakefield on April 17, 1922 in Sunnyside, Utah. She married Peter E. Grange on June 3, 1941, in the Manti LDS Temple; he passed away on June 19, 1945 in Okinawa, Japan during the Battle of Okinawa during WWII. She then married Stanley A. Cowley on October 12, 1947 in Elko, Nevada; he passed away on April 12, 1995.
Marie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she had a very strong testimony of the gospel and served in many ward and stake callings, she served a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City, Utah from 1996-1997. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet and quilt. She was a life long resident of Huntington and will be dearly missed by a community of family and friends. Marie will always be remembered as a loving, caring and compassionate daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who always put the needs of others before her own.
She is survived by sons and daughters: Pete (Sandy) Grange of Sandy, Utah, Carolyn (Barry) Arnold, of Herriman, Utah, Paul (Cathy) Cowley of Huntington, Utah, Tracy (Jeanine) Cowley of Herriman, Barry (Angie) Cowley of Price, Utah, Cydni (Garth) Pitts of Price, Utah, Ryan Cowley of Huntington, Utah, brother: Wells (Elizabeth) Wakefield of Orem, Utah, 31 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, spouses, daughter, Sandra Davis, grandsons: Rick Davis, Jared Cowley and Kolbe Cowley, granddaughter, Tanya Ruedter, sister, June Knudsen and brother, Thomas Wakefield.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center (240 North Main). There will be a viewing Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior the services at the church.
