Lavoy Anthon Mortensen
Price: Lavoy Anthon Mortensen, age 57, passed away Wednesday, April 02, 2014, in Salt Lake after a long and determined battle with Necrotizing Fasciitis Disease, central nervous system sleep apnea, and bacterial infections. He was born April 6, 1956 in Price, Utah to Charles A. and Donabelle Chidister Mortensen. He married Vicky Marie Youngberg West Roberts on April 30, 1992 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 25, 2002.
Lavoy was raised in Elmo and attended Emery High School through the 11th grade. He moved to Wellington his senior year and graduated from Carbon High School in 1974. He worked as a coal miner for 8 years, when he had an accident and wasn't able to continue to work as a miner. He later drove trucks and taught computers at colleges. Lavoy received his Associates Degree from CEU in 2003.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lavoy had many hobbies, including building/repairing computers, playing games on the computer, raising animals, rabbits, cats, dogs, a cockatiel, pigs and chickens, of which he had many breeds including an Amazon bird.
The love of his life was his wife, sister, nieces, daughter and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him especially his "Swamp Angel Group".
He is survived by his wife, Vicky; daughter, Margaret Janie Gallagher of Price; two grandchildren, Enrico and Amber Matejcek of Smithfield, Missouri; sister, Jenalee Larsen of Hawthorne, NV; four nieces, Evangelene, Irene, Rosaline, and Donele, and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Voneal, infant brother, and two brothers-in-law, Richard Larsen and Shannon Don Jorgenson.

There will be a memorial service held Monday, April 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Price LDS 3rd Ward Chapel (303 West 500 South, Price). Family will receive friends starting at 12:00 Noon prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Elmo Town Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
