Larry Lauritsen
PRICE- Our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Larry Allen Lauritsen, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Castleview Hospital.
Larry was born July 11, 1939, in Price, Utah, to Edward and Jarama Lauritsen. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1961, he served a mission for the church in the California Mission, where he worked in parts of California, Nevada, and Arizona. He loved telling his family about his time serving and sharing memories and pictures. After returning, Larry married the love of his life, Verna Wells on February 16, 1963 in the Manti Temple. He worked so hard to make her happy and truly adored her. Together they made a home in Price and raised their five children. Larry loved fishing, the outdoors, and gardening. He spent many hours on streams and lakes looking for a good catch, planting and caring for his vegetable garden, and hunting in the hills and mountains around Price. He was adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His life was spent in the service of so many. Lucky friends and neighbors were often the recipients of his generosity with his many vegetable deliveries. He was very aware of people around him and was often found helping others. Larry loved coaching the ward softball team, and one of his fondest memories was when his team won the all-church softball tournament.
Larry is survived by his children, Lezlie Wright, Price, Todd (Tiffany) Lauritsen, Price, James (Juli) Lauritsen, Rexburg, Idaho, son-in-law, Jim (Karen) Checketts, Farmington, Aimee Lauritsen, Price; 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren.
