LaMar John Preston
aka "Toot Whistle"
East Carbon-LaMar John Preston, age 86, passed away on May 10, 2012 in Price, Utah. Lamar was born on April 15, 1926 in Sunnyside, Utah to Ralph and Hilda Latturner Preston. He married Lois C. Preston on July 27, 1943 in Sunnyside, Utah they were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on May 26, 1965, she passed away in 1970, later he married Lynda Boren on March 20, 1971 in Dragerton, Utah.
LaMar served in the U.S. Army during WWII; he was a volunteer fireman and assistant Fire Chief in East Carbon for many years. He was a coal miner for over 45 years. LaMar enjoyed camping, especially fishing and riding four-wheelers. He loved to tinker around in his back yard, and was a backyard mechanic extraordinar. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife Lynda, children: Lois Jean (John-Deceased) Crow, of Blackfoot, ID, Joyce Ann (Lori) Berkenmeier-Preston, of SLC, Vernon Eugene (Shawnee) Preston of Orangeville, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and brother, Ronald Preston of ID, and sister-in-law, Faye Preston of NM.
Preceded in death by his parents, first wife Lois, son, Ralph D. Preston, son-in-law, John Crow, sister, Ruth, brothers, Herbert (Elma) and Bill Preston.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., at Fausett Mortuary in Price. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the mortuary.
