Kate M. Jewkes
Carbonville-Kate Ann Merkley Jewkes, age 96, passed away on May 29, 2012 in Price, Utah. She was born on April 21, 1916 in Vernal, Utah to George Albert and Georgianna Blackburn Merkley. Kate married Mont Kale Jewkes on May 14, 1937. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on November 28, 1961.
Kate was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, held many various callings through out her life. She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, knitting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by her children: G. Ben (Joan) Jewkes of Highland, Utah, Jerry (Carolyn) Jewkes of Gulfport, Mississippi, Dale (Alice) Jewkes of Price, Utah, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Warren (Cleone) Merkley of Mesa, AZ, and a sister, Marie Voyles of Vernal, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Ronald K., brothers: Davis, Clifton, Woodrow, Amos, sisters: Isabell, Eva, Edna, Malissa, Flora, 4 grandchild, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spring Glen LDS Chapel. There will be a viewing held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price, and also Friday from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery in Vernal, Utah at 2:30 p.m. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
