KAREN PETERSEN THOMAS
FERRON - Karen Petersen Thomas returned to our loving Heavenly Father March 14, 2016 and into the arms of her eternal companion who she has been missing for 50 years.
She was born in Ferron, UT March 27, 1937 to Darrel and Edna Jensen Petersen.
Karen married the love of her life Richard Gale Thomas for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple September 2, 1955.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many leadership positions. Her faith never wavered and her testimony was an example to many.
Growing up in Ferron she was blessed to be surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins whom have become life long friends. Many will remember the love she had for dance. She taught dance and volunteered her time creating dances for the Gold and Green Balls and Jr. Proms with Joe Ann Crawford by her side.
One of the biggest parts of Karen's life was working as a "Soda Jerk" at the Ferron Drug with her dad.
After her husband passed away, she had a young family to support. She went to work for the Post Office where she became friends with the whole community. Her favorite part was making early morning calls when a Missionary's white envelope had arrived.
Family was the highlight of her life. She loved her children, grandchildren, and was the happiest when they were all around her.
She is survived by her children Julie (Drew) Sitterud, Lisa Behling (Loran - deceased), Jeff (Brenda) Thomas, all of Ferron, Utah, Christine (Doug) Pace of Cortez, Colorado. Sister in law Kathy Petersen of St. George, Utah. Nine grandchildren: Christopher, Thomas, Jesse, Tyler, Chase, Jackson, Whitney, Landon, Taylor, and 18 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Richard Gale Thomas, parents: Darrel and Edna Petersen, mother and father in law: John and Minnie Thomas, brother: Jim Petersen, son in law: Loran Behling
