Joseph (Joe) Royal Sherman

Joseph (Joe) Sherman of Cleveland, Utah passed away peacefully with his family at his side on October 8, 2020 at the age of 92. He was born in Huntington, Utah to Joel Glain and Mary Pringle Sherman on December 3, 1927. He was the 2nd child of 11 children. He married his sweetheart Thelma Rae Eriksen in Orangeville, Utah on June 18, 1951. They had two children, Jolene Rae and Carl Glain (Shorty) Sherman. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on June 18, 1992.
He was raised on his family's farm and attended school in Huntington. He was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 1, 1937 by William Reed Brasher. He had many different jobs throughout his life. In his youth he worked as a farmer, coal miner, and a lumberjack. After he was married, he moved to Ogden where he worked 19 1/2 years at Swift & Company meat packing plant until they closed the plant. He then worked at Carnation Whey plant for 1 year and it closed. He retired in 1989 from Cream O Weber Dairy after 17 years. After he retired, they moved back home to Cleveland.
Joe enjoyed boating, camping, hunting, fishing, and growing his garden. He loved spending time with his great grandchildren watching their different sporting events and performances.
He is survived by his children, Jolene Ekstrom, and Carl (Cindy) Sherman. Six grandchildren, Michael (Mandy) Ekstrom, Brian (Lesa) Ekstrom, Lisa (Josh) Preece, Joey (Kate) Sherman, Carl Jr. (Brande) Sherman, Misty (Dustin) Taylor, and 30 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Thelma, parents, son-in-law Dee Ekstrom, 1 sister Ruby Lapp, and 1 brother Earl Sherman.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Heritage Funeral Home, 620 North Main, Huntington Utah. Graveside services will be held at Cleveland Cemetery 520 Cleveland Road Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 am. Live streaming of the service will be available on the Fausett Mortuary Facebook Page. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
