Johnny Junior Winder
Elmo, Utah
It is with great sorrow we have lost our brother, uncle, nephew, and friend from complications of bladder cancer. Johnny passed away at his home in Elmo on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, with his sister Emma at his side. He was born in Price, Utah on April 14, 1946 to Virl Evert Winder and Thelma Black. He was the eighth child of eight children, four boys and four girls. He was raised in Elmo and attended school in Elmo and Huntington. He graduated from North Emery High School in 1965. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He worked on the farm and in the construction of homes until he went to work for Price City in the maintenance department from where he retired in 2014 after 34 years. Johnny had a big heart. He loved his family, friends and people, country music and dancing, and, in recent months, talking on the phone to fill in the lonely hours of having to stay home. He was an avid basketball fan, his favorite teams being the Jazz and the men's and women's basketball teams at Utah State University Eastern in Price. He seldom missed a game and was an honorary cheerleader for over 20 years. He always looked forward to the World Series Baseball games and going to the Cowboy Club to watch the playoffs. He was always a willing helper to family and friends. He never missed a Winder or Black Family reunion.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Evert, a sister, Dorothy, two baby brothers, and two baby sisters. Johnny is survived by his sister, Emma LaRae Weber, of Elmo, Sister-in-Law, Gloria A. (Evert, deceased) Winder of Price, seven nieces and one nephew, plus many great nieces and nephews, and one Aunty LaDean (Black) Weight, of Stansbury Park, Utah, and a dear friend, Nena Allen, of Huntington, Utah.
