JJ "Joseph Jeff " Grant passed away quietly May 4, 2020, in his son's home in Payson, Utah, surrounded by his loving family. JJ was born September 14, 1952, in Sterling, Illinois, to Joe S. and Arlene Jeffs Grant. He married Cynthia Graham July 1, 1972, in the Manti Temple. After graduating from Emery High and Snow College, JJ attended Wake Forest University and graduated from Eastern Montana College with a bachelors and the University of Utah with a masters. He was an educator for 40 years, last serving as Director of the Southeast Utah Service Center. A skilled basketball player and athlete, JJ coached many years. He was very talented and could fix nearly anything. He had a strong work ethic which he passed on to his children. JJ loved working with his hands and spent many hours creating wood projects in one of his favorite spots, the shop. He and Cynthia enjoyed traveling and recently returned from serving a Church History Mission in the Australia Sydney mission. He enjoyed Ham radio and spent many fond hours camping and meeting with the Sinbad Deseret Amateur Radio Club. Grampa loved to tease his numerous grandchildren. He and his sons shared a special bond as the "Grant Biker Gang" riding together on numerous motorcycle trips and with the Temple Riders Association. JJ was not only big in stature; he had a heart to match and commanded respect from those who knew him. In addition to his wife Cynthia, JJ is survived by 6 children: Robert (Michelle) of Payson, Stephen (Gretchen) of Glendale, Arizona, Geoffrey of Farmington, Kenneth (Michelle) of Cleveland, Eric (Jenny) of Las Vegas and Cheryl (Ryan Maughan) of Cleveland, younger brother, Brent Grant of West Virginia, 23 beloved grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, with more on the way. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, stepfather William Callahan, and mother and father-in-law, Julia and Kenneth Graham. Viewings will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2020 from 6 pm - 8 pm at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 10 am - 11 am at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale. Private funeral services will be Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 12 pm. Please join us for the funeral service via live-streaming on Facebook on the Fausett Mortuary Facebook page. Interment will follow in Orangeville Cemetery. Family and Friends may sign the online guest book and share memories of JJ at www.fausettmortuary.com.
