Jerry Jeffs

February 27, 1937 — October 2, 2022

Jerry A Jeffs returned to his Heavenly Father October 2, 2022. He was 85 years old. Jerry was born in Mohrland, Utah on February 27, 1937 to James Arthur Jeffs and Zola Jensen. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In 1955 he joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1959. Jerry met his sweetheart, Kay Barney, and they were married on January 9, 1960 in Clawson, Utah. They were sealed together for eternity on October 23, 1976 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They had 5 sons.

Their marriage began in Salt Lake City, Utah but moved to Arizona where they worked and operated several Trading Posts. While in Arizona he learned the Navajo language, which served him well when he received a church calling to set up a branch in Lupe, Arizona.

After moving to Flagstaff, Arizona in 1967, Jerry partnered with several people to open a variety of businesses. Jerry made some very good lifelong friends while living in Arizona. When their oldest two sons had graduated from High School, Jerry and Kay spent three summers fishing in Alaska. In 1992, when their youngest son was 8 years old they returned home to Castle Dale to be closer to family.

Jerry and Kay served a mission in Tacoma, Washington at the Zion's Camp Property. Their mission was one of the highlights of his life. Jerry had a strong testimony and asked everyone he met if they belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Jerry had many callings in the church, but his favorite was when he worked with the youth. He loved working with the young men and helping them learn how to be men.

Jerry was a very generous man. He helped many people so that they could get back on their feet. He was loved by many, especially little children and he loved them. He was a great athlete and loved sports.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He taught his children and grandchildren about the importance of family and the gospel. His family made him very proud and happy.

Jerry is survived by his eternal companion Kay; sons Jarold (Gay Lee) Jeffs, Vernal, Utah, Matthew (Christine) Jeffs, Showlow, Arizona, Adam (Janelle) Jeffs, Castle Dale, Utah; grandchildren, Jennifer Prough, Jamele (Nick) Rhoten, Josef (Kathy) Jeffs, Brandi (Courtney) Ivory, Caitlyn (Louis) Wilson, Jessica Jeffs, Deveney (Garrett) McGee, Levi (Olivia) Jeffs, Nolan (Maylee) Jeffs, Elizabeth Jeffs, Sheldon Jeffs; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Soni Barney, Tracy (Sandra) Jeffs, Katherine (Mike) Monfredi and many nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Sylvia; sons James and Mark; grandson Skylure Jeffs.
