Janice Fowler

January 24, 1945 — September 16, 2022

Janice Rae (Haws) Fowler, 77, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, died September 16th, 2022 peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer. Jan (as she was called) was born January 24, 1945 in Modesto, California to Urban and LaVee Haws. She spent her childhood in Sao Paulo, Brazil where her father worked for Sears. In 1955, the family moved to Northridge, California where she attended Granada Hills High School graduating in 1963. 1966-1968, Jan served a 2 year mission to Sao Paulo, Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After returning, she finished an Art Education degree at BYU in 1970. She got her first teaching opportunity at Mound Fort Middle School in Ogden, UT, where she taught art and shop classes. Later becoming the school librarian, where she found a love for reading. She loved all her 30 years of teaching and interacting with the kids.



She met and married Wilbur Dale Fowler in December of 1989. They lived in Brigham City, Utah for 23 years before retiring to Ferron, Utah.



Jan loved her family first and foremost, her church, her dogs, and everything outdoors, especially: horseback riding, backpacking, hiking, running, and motorcycling. She shared her love for all of this with her family. She is a talented artist and loved sharing her paintings and her art with all around her.



She is survived by her 5 children Gracia (Danny) Taylor, Paul (Pam) Fowler, Emily (Rick) Philpot, Mark Fowler, and Angela Fowler, 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren. Her sister Sherine (Marc) Bench, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and 12 great-nieces and nephews.



Viewing in Brigham City, Thursday Sept. 22nd, 2022 from 6-8pm Brigham City 29th Ward 531 North 100 West, Brigham City. Viewing in Ferron, Saturday, Sept 24th, 2022 from 10am-12:30pm. Funeral services at 1:00pm. Viewing and Funeral at the Blue Hills Ward, 37 West 200 North, Ferron, UT. She will be laid to rest in the Ferron City Cemetery.



Flowers should arrive by 5pm on September 22nd to the Church address listed above.
