Jane Elizabeth Jensen
1922-2009
HUNTINGTON--Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Jane E. Jensen, age 87, returned to her Heavenly Father on May 19, 2009, in Ferron, Utah, from advanced Alzheimers.
Jane Elizabeth Jensen Jensen was born February 28, 1922, to Carl Olef Jensen and Sarah E. White Jensen in Cleveland, Emery County, Utah. She was a twin, and her twin brother died when he was seven days old. She was the 4th of 9 children.
Jane attended schools in Huntington, Utah. She married Barney E. Jensen on August 9, 1937, in Cleveland, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on July 23, 1963. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including Relief Society President, Primary and Young Women's organizations. She earned her young women's medallion while working with them. She was a visiting teacher for over 50 years. She lived and worked on a farm in Cleveland for many years where she raised her three children. After her children were raised, she returned to school and earned her GED in 1979.
She worked as treasurer for Huntington City. She, along with her husband, Barney, volunteered with the Huntington Senior Citizens for over 25 years. They received the Silver Bowl award from Lt. Governor Olene Walker for their many years of service.
She was an avid reader, wonderful cook, and talented seamstress.
Jane is survived by her daughters: Bonnie (Jim) Bezzant, Orem, UT, Valinda (Thomas) Roush, Huntington, UT, and James L. (Karen) Jensen, Huntington/St. George, UT; nephew, Jim R. Jensen (raised by Jane and Barney), Clearfield, UT; sisters, Olive (Perry) McArthur, Huntington, UT, and Saraleen Moore, Idaho; sister-in-law, Dot Jensen, New Mexico; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney, on January 9, 2003, her parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Huntington LDS 1st-5th Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held Friday, May 22, 2009, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, and Saturday from 9:30 - 10:45 prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
