Jack R. Woodward
Price: Jack R. Woodward completed his earthly mission and returned to his heavenly home on November 28th 2012. He was born February 5th 1933 in Rolapp, Utah to Calvin Ray and Nellie Prescott Woodward. He married Joyce Gardner on August 6th 1954 in the Logan Utah temple.
To make the statement that he was devoted to his family and faith does not adequately describe the reality of his everyday behavior. He spent his life in service and touched countless others in his lifetime pursuits.
He was an accomplished athlete, leading his high school, college, and university teams which prepared him for a lifetime of coaching multiple sports from little league through the collegiate level.
He served his country as a United States Marine Corps captain. He then returned to the hometown he loved where he influenced many as a teacher, mentor and coach. Few of us are as fortunate as Jack to love what he did as intensely as coach "centerline" Woodward did. He loved the teams he coached and our family benefited by this passion and it seemed that our family expanded with every season and every team.
He later owned the local Golden Corral restaurant. He then spent the last 20 years, prior to being forced into retirement by a set of golf clubs, working with his family as co-owner of Woodward's Home Care Specialists.
Retirement was anything but idle. He wore out that set of golf clubs in between service to his family, church and community. With his devoted wife he served in the Alabama, Birmingham mission and thirteen years in the Manti, Utah temple. Throughout his life he fulfilled many church leadership assignments at the ward and stake level.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-law's, brother and sister. He is survived by his wife Joyce, sons Scott (Ronda), Wayne (Leslie), Ben (Michelle) and Kirk (Sherilee), twenty five grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two are receiving last minute coaching prior to their arrival on earth.
