Irene Mary Weston Burnside Marshall
HUNTINGTON - Irene Marshall, age 91, passed away March 28, 2011. Irene was born January 1, 1920, in Black Hills, Colorado, to James William and Stella Cora Ethal Sefton Weston. She married Auther Cecil Burnside in 1940. Auther passed away in 1949. She then married Loren James Marshall in 1951, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Loren passed away on August 29, 1973.
Irene was raised in both Colorado and Utah. She attended and graduated from North Emery High School. She learned the value of hard work by working on her family farm. She passed this trait of hard work on to her children and grandchildren. Irene was an active member of the LDS Church. She served in many capacities including as a librarian, in the Primary, Relief Society, and she especially enjoyed visiting teaching.
Her hobbies included quilting, dancing, canning, gardening, riding horses, and camping. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was very independent and was always more concerned about others and their needs before her own. Her family was the most important part of her life.
Irene is survived by her children: Patricia Nemeyer of St. George, Sandra Jackson of Huntington, Loren (Merle) Marshall of Huntington, Wayne Marshall of Huntington, and Jerry (Nancy) Marshall of Price; one sister, Stella Ryan of Montrose, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; one special granddaughter, Roberta Candelaria; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Auther and Loren; one son, Robert Burnside; three grandchildren: Lisa Burnside, Dennis Burnside, and Jeremy Marshall; and thirteen brothers and sisters: Gene, Bud, Buster William, Cleve, Lorene, Ruth, Rowena, Ila, Marvin, George, Henry, Dalton, and Leona.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the Huntington LDS 1st Ward Chapel (115 South 400 East). There will be a viewing Friday, April 1, 2011, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, Castle Dale (720 N. Center St.), and Saturday from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at the church prior to the services.
