"Jerry"
FERRON - Gerald David Stotler, age 74, is rejoicing in the presence of the Lord as of January 2, 2014. Jerry was born January 11, 1939 in Akron, Ohio to Robert and Margaret Aune Stotler. He married Geraldine E. Moss September 21, 1977 in Balboa, California.
Jerry was a very active member of the community. He was on the Ferron Planning & Zoning Committee, a member of the CERT Team, a part of the Emery County Volunteer Center where he was part of the committee for Relay For Life and the Angel Tree, he was an advocate for Habitat For Humanity, and he was also a part of the Foster Grandparent Tutor program for Ferron Elementary. Jerry restarted the Emery County Business Chamber.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ferron, Utah where he was a part of the jail ministry, led singing, taught Sunday School, and was a big part of the Gideon's Price Camp.
Jerry and his wife traveled the world together, including two mission trips to Mexico. He taught school at Bethel Baptist High School. Jerry enjoyed cooking, was very patriotic, and loved his country very much. Service was his life. Romans 12:11 was his favorite scripture, "Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord." He lived it!
Jerry is survived by his wife, Gerry; children: Colleen Turvey of Palm Desert, California, David (Kathy) Stotler of Elsinore, California, Candide (Robert) Lopez of Fountain Valley, California, and Gideon (Dolores) Katz of Huntington Beach, California; brother, Jim (Alice) Stotler of Yorba Linda, California; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ferron (65 West Mill Road). There will be a viewing Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 North Center Street, Castle Dale). Family will receive friends on Thursday at the church from 10:30 - 10:55 a.m. prior to the service. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
