Geniel Reay

April 27, 1930 — August 19, 2018

GREEN RIVER- Geniel Davies Reay, age 88 passed away on August 19, 2018 in Murray, UT surrounded by her family. She was born April 27, 1930 in Provo, UT to William Davies & Esther Hamblin Davies. She married William H. Reay on September 29, 1948 in Mt. Emmons, UT. The marriage was later solemnized on April 30, 1966 in the Manti LDS Temple. Geniel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various church callings. She was a volunteer EMT for 20 years for the Green River ambulance. The community depended on her and it was a big part of her life. She loved serving and helping others. Geniel and Bill began their life together in the Uintah Basin area then moved to Monticello, UT. They spent some time in the Denver area before moving to Green River where they continued raising their family. Geniel loved being with family. Family was the most important thing to her and she made sure everyone she talked to knew how much she loved her family. While raising their children, Geniel and Bill had children "not their own," including friends of their children who lived with them from time to time. Geniel had a love for the outdoors and adventure. She went deep sea and fly fishing in Alaska, she flew an ultralight, ran rivers and her favorite was the Grand Canyon. She was known for her silliness and sense of humor and kept it right up to the end. She is survived by her children Carolyn (Steven) Hatch of Hanksville, Paula Curtis of Moab, Coni Reay of Salt Lake City, William David (Kenna) Reay of Queen Creek, AZ, Ruth Ann (Kyle) Ekker of Huntington, Kelly D. (Laura) Reay of Mesa, AZ, Lynda Reay of Provo and Phillip (Susie) Stubblefield of Moab; 27 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and three sister and her grandson, Steven Shae Hatch. Funeral services will be held Monday August 27, 2018 at the Green River LDS Chapel at 11:00 am with a viewing prior from 9:00am-10:30am. Interment in the Elgin Cemetery entrusted to the care of Fausett Mortuary. Friends and family may sign the guestbook and share memories of Geniel at www.fausettmortuary.com.
