Garren Whitlock

January 24, 1923 — October 18, 2015

EAST CARBON: Garren A. Whitlock, our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away October 18, 2015 surrounded by all of his loved ones. He was born January 24, 1923 in Annabella, Utah to Joseph and Lillian Porter Whitlock. He married Anita Louise Webb on February 25, 1947 in Flagstaff Arizona. Garren lived in East Carbon (Dragerton) since 1947. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for Horse Canyon Mine and Columbia and was a dedicated member of the United Mine Workers of America. He loved working in his garden and going out and getting wood for his fireplace. He was known for his championship arm wrestling in his younger days, and always willing to help anyone with whatever their needed. He loved looking through his pictures and donated pictures of the coal miners to the Museum in East Carbon. He is survived by his daughters and son: Linda Gallup of Delta, CO, Carol (Johnny) Herrera of Salt Lake City, UT, Sandy (Ross) Walk of East Carbon, UT, Cindy Whitlock of East Carbon, UT, Rodney Whitlock of East Carbon, UT, 11 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren, and 1 brother Jimmy (Pat) Whitlock of Kanab, UT. Preceded in death by parents, his wife Anita Louise Whitlock, son Randall Whitlock, twin brother Warren B. Whitlock, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. The family would like to thank Hospice and especially CNS Lorene Naylor. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price. A viewing will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Garren at www.fausettmortuary.com.
