Ephraim Henrie

Ephraim James Henrie Price-Ephraim James Henrie, born 29 October, 1918 to Mary Elizabeth Quinn and Melvin James Henrie, died 23 February, 2011 at his home. He married Jennie V. Barney 15 December, 1938 in Price, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Jennie preceded him in death. Lela Mott Thacker became his second wife on 14 October, 2000 in Price, Utah. He said he was a lucky man to have loved and been loved by two good women. He left school after the tenth grade to help support his family. He worked for Livingston Dairy, which he later purchased. Tiring of cows he went to work in the logging industry where he learned to operate a cat. This began his career in construction. He worked as an equipment operator until he opened Henrie Construction. He ran this company for 44 years. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he served as a Young Men's leader, a bishopric counselor, the second bishop of the Carbonville Ward and as a high counselor. He served in the Army of the United States in the 271st Field Artillery Battalion during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations. His unit saw action in New Guinea, the Philippines and was among the first troops to occupy Japan. He enlisted as a private and was discharged as a first sergeant. He is survived by his wife, Lela; children Joan (Darwin) Hunt, Price; Thelda Wimmer, Price; Lonnie Thacker, Salt Lake City; Arbra (David) Wall, Mountain Green; Stan Thacker, Salt Lake City; Nedra (Carey) Seal, Ogden; sister Alice Dimick, Florida; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jennie; siblings, Melva Huntington, Wallace (Dick) Henrie, Blain Henrie, Phyllis Henrie, and son-in-law Jack Wimmer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Westwood LDS Chapel (175 North 1280 West-Price, Utah). A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (680 East 100 South-Price, Utah) and also on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Eph at www.fausettmortuary.com.
