Elva Jane Powell Anderson (Muggy) Green River, Utah-Elva Jane Powell Anderson (Muggy), age 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in Green River, UT. She was born on April 1, 1921 in Price, UT to William Riley Powell and Jennie Isabella Luke Powell. Elva was raised in Price and went to school there. She was a member of the LDS Church. She worked in many different jobs, but retired from Sperry Univac in 1985. Muggy's life was very family oriented and enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed being in the outdoors with them, camping and going on picnics. After retiring she moved to Aztec, NM and spent her time working with ceramics and quilting and doing genealogy research. She loved walking with her dog, Punkin. They were a familiar sight in town. She lived a few years in Connecticut before returning to Utah, where she has been for the last eight years. Elva is survived by four daughters: Pat, and her husband, Gary Spickelmier, of Aztec, NM; Sandie, and her husband, Tom Stone, of Plantsville, CT; Linda Turner of Layton, UT and Barbara, and her husband, Bob Quist, of Green River, UT; twelve grandchildren: Tammy Kauvaka, Lorrie Bell, Jason Spickelmier, FaNon Spickelmier, Deborah Rosario, Bryan Stone, Carrie Zenger, Valarie Pearce, Curtis Turner, Cody Turner, Kenneth Quist and Darcie Quist; 22 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a sister, Wilma Hilton of Salt Lake City, UT. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: William (Bus) Powell, Clifford (Dick) Powell, Clinton (Fat) Powell, and Wayne Powell; a sister, Nola Russell. A special thank-you to Stephanie Hales for her loving care and friendship for the past three years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the 3rd Ward Chapel of The Church of Latter-Day Saints in Price, (300 West 500 South). A viewing will be held at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior the services at the church. Interment will be in the Grames-Powell Cemetery in Price. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Friends and family may sign the guest book and share memories of Elva at www.fausettmortuary.com, Muggy loved flowers but donations to CNS Hospice Care would also be appropriate.
