Elam Derk Jones
HUNTINGTON - Elam Derk Jones, age 29, passed away March 22, 2013 in Huntington in a coal mining accident. Elam was born September 26, 1983 in Provo, Utah to Derk and Julie Justice Jones. He married Jaqlynn Tolley on January 21, 2006 in Price, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on August 22, 2009.
Elam obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a proud coal miner for many years and was a member of the Rhino Mine Rescue Team. He enjoyed raising his pheasants. Elam loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he was an avid snowmobiler. He had no fear of anything. But most of all, he loved his wife, boys and his dog.
Elam is survived by his wife, Jaqlynn; sons, Kelsen and Dacyn Jones; parents, Derk and Julie Jones of Huntington; in-laws, Roger and Leslie Tolley of Price; sister, Mindee (Lance) Maki of Ephraim; three sisters-in-law, Jill (Mark) Emerson of Price, Jenile Tolley of Price, and Jessica (Brady) Lund of Redmond, Utah; grandparents, Karren Justice and Blake and Wilda Jones, all of Huntington; and great-grandparents, Robert and Colleen Potts of Price.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Orson Justice; cousin, Courtney Justice; and grandparents-in-law, Glen Morris and Josephine Tolley.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center (240 North Main Street). There will be a viewing Tuesday, March 26 at the Stake Center from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery.
