Donald Eugene Cologie 83 of Ferron Utah Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 12, 2022 at Castleview Hospital due to Covid.
He was born December 26, 1938, to Dorothy Louise Jones Albasin and Andrew Cologie.
He married Brenda (his Babe) at The Methodist church in Bowerston, Ohio September 25, 1971.
He was raised in Cadiz Ohio, where he graduated high school and played high school football, his team went undefeated and won the conference championship which also made the high school hall of fame in 1956. He lived in Adena, Ohio where he worked at the A&P and met the love of his life (Brenda). He worked at the Y&O coal mine in Ohio to later be recruited to Utah to work at the Wilberg Mine where in the early 80's he became Union President of UMWA local 2176. He made many friends/brothers in his coal mining years which later lead him to Trail Mountain Mine to continue his career and later retire in 2000. He was a man who could not sit still, he went to work for David Hinkins at his ranch where he spent many years. He enjoyed fishing with his sons, nephews, sons-in-law, and grandsons, golfing with his brothers, sons, sisters, daughters and friends, gardening because God gave him the biggest green thumb, and golf ball hunting with his wife, kids, and grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Louise Albasin and stepfather Laird Albasin, Father Andrew Cologie, stepmother Helen Cologie, an unborn child, a great grandchild Nevaeh Marie Wiseman, brother-in-law John "Jack" Jordan, a niece Pamela Jordan, and sister-in-law Sally Cologie.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Brenda of Ferron Utah, children Donnie Cologie Jr of Ohio, Randy (Iris) Cologie of Ohio, Tammy Theriot (Scott Nifong) of North Carolina, Sherry (Michael) Babcock of Utah, Bob (Teresa) Onstott of Utah, Moge (Shellee) Cologie of Utah, Dawn Marie (Chris) Clark of Wyoming, Tiffany (Jon) Austin of Wyoming, two sisters Donna Carol (Dick) Davis of Ohio, Dolores Jordan of Wyoming, two brothers Jack (Rena) Cologie of Ohio, Larry "Dago" Cologie of Utah and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Fausett Mortuary, 720 North Center St. Castle Dale. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 11:00 with a viewing prior from 9:30 - 10:30 am at Fausett Mortuary.
