Don Curtis

August 27, 1927 — November 28, 2010

Biography Don "Jack" Curtis HUNTINGTON - Don "Jack" Curtis, age 83, passed away November 28, 2010. Jack was born August 27, 1927, as the ninth of ten children to Guy and Eloise Curtis in Cleveland, Utah. He was raised and attended school in Cleveland. Starting at age 12, he worked during the summers at Nutters Ranch up Nine Mile Canyon. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and later served in the U.S. Air Force. Jack married Lucy Jones on October 10, 1947 in East Carbon, Utah. They were blessed with six children and raised them in Cleveland. They lived there until 1997 when they moved to Huntington. He worked as a coal miner for 25 years and on the rail road for five years. However, Jack's real love was ranching and training horses. This is where he taught his children the value of hard work. He will be remembered as an honest, hard-working husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather who loved his family - especially his grandchildren. Jack is survived by his wife, Lucy; six children: Don Kirk Curtis of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kaye Curtis of Huntington, Dale Curtis of Cleveland, Nedra Curtis of Salt Lake City, Bart Curtis of Vernal, and Bret Curtis of Huntington; one sister, Tessie Elfrang of Ephraim; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, and two brothers. Graveside services will be held Friday, December 3, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Huntington City Cemetery. There will be a viewing Thursday, December 2, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale (720 N. Center Street). Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
