FERRON - Deward Berdell Bentley, "Bert", age 78, passed away April 18, 2013 at his home in Ferron, Utah. Bert was born August 3, 1934 in Cedar City, Utah to Deward and Maxine Stevens Bentley. He married Mary Lue Madsen July 31, 1952 in Logan, Utah.
Bert graduated from Parowan High School in 1952. He was a member of the IBEW Local 354 and the Southeast Utah OHV Club. His hobbies included rebuilding old truck and cars, hunting and camping in the mountains, 4-wheeling, wildlife photography, and boating at Lake Powell. But what he enjoyed most was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Bert looked forward to family reunions and family campouts. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family, someone who could fix anything, and someone who loved to help others.
Bert is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Debra (Richard) Burr of Ferron, and Troy (Tammy) Bentley of Huntington; siblings: Rodney (Jerrlyn) Bentley of Cedar City, Utah, Beverly Gillins of Tremonton, Utah, Brenda Lamoreaux of Butte, Montana, and Randy Bentley of Perry, Utah; brother-in-law, Harold (LaRee) Madsen of Salt Lake City, Utah; 10 grandchildren; and 19 3/4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Deward and Maxine Bentely; two sons, Danny and Tommy Bentley; in-laws, Arvel and Vay Madsen; brothers-in-law, Ray Gillins and Michael Lamoreaux; sisters-in-law, Joy Lynn Bentley, Wanana Hendersen, and Roberta Raiser Madsen; son-in-law, John Royle; two nephews; one niece; and several close friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ferron LDS Stake Center (555 South 400 West, Ferron). There will be a viewing Monday, April 22 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 North Center St., Castle Dale) and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Ferron City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Bert at www.fausettmortuary.com.
