Delaina Nielsen

CLAWSON- Verna Delaina Nielsen triumphantly progressed from her life on this earth on December 3, 2023.
Delaina was born in Blackfoot, Idaho on September 22, 1951, to Mervin and Ruth Duncan.
She married the love of her life James Nielsen on her birthday September 22, 1973, in the Manti, Utah Temple.
Her family relocated from Idaho to Ferron, Utah where she grew up as a cowgirl loving the family farm. She was a great hand on a horse and could ride and herd cows with the best of them. You could often find her with her father working hard on the family ranch. Within minutes you could also find her in the kitchen preparing a delicious meal for all the ranch hands. She was a lady of many talents. She enjoyed beauty pageants where she excelled with dramatic readings. She practiced standing on top of a haystack performing for the cows. She won a crown and a scholarship as the princess for the Utah Dairy Association. Delaina raised a family of seven girls and two boys: Lannie (Darren) Olsen, Cheri (Travis) Ewell, Mistie (Russ) Myers, Carmell (Joe) Childs, Sharla (Josiah) McCarty, Mervin (Aron) Nielsen, Amber (David) Martin, Daniel James Nielsen and Delaina (Tyler) Graff. Her home was a haven for many filled with love, laughter and good food. She enjoyed baking and was the Utah State Fair Champion in the baking division for two consecutive years. She was a friend to everyone and always on the go delivering her baked goods and messages of love and cheer. She served faithfully in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Delaina cherished her marriage. Theirs is a love story of faith and devotion that will continue into the eternities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Mervin Duncan; sister, Karrie Behling; daughter, Mistie Myers; great grandson, Bryce Kayson Ewell.
The family is profoundly grateful to the nurses and care givers of Symbii Home Health especially Sandy Jensen and Mandie Bennett, Thank you.
