Dan Henry Cox Was 74 at the time of his death. Died April 30, 2019 at the University of Utah due to heart failure. Born April 17, 1945 to Richard Ward and Kenna Ruby Robertson Cox of Orangeville, Utah. Dan married the love of his life Sherree Louise Bryson on May 18, 1968 which later was solemnized in the Manti Temple October 15, 1994. Dan graduated from Emery County High School. Dan played football and was a bit of a rebel. After completing High School Dan worked for his father "Ward" where he developed a talent and an absolute passion for being a Lumber Jack. Dan was raised in Orangeville, Utah This is where he raised his family and devoted his life too. Dan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Dan served in the Orangeville 3rd ward as ward clerk for a period of time. Dan worked for Nielson's Construction for the better part of his career, 40 plus years. Dan became a heavy equipment operator and could out work everybody. This is where the nickname (Digger Dan) was started, Dan continued to run Cox Sawmill throughout his entire life. Dan loved being a Cowboy and was very well known for his exciting rides with family and friends on the San Rafael Desert. Dan's other love in life was being in Joe's Valley. Whether it was riding and blazing his own trails on horseback, to logging falling trees to bring down the mountain, to just camping at the Yellow Rose and being with all those Dan loved and enjoyed. Dan was famous for his Wake-up Calls in the 24th of July, which later became a tradition for Orangeville Days. Dan was very giving with his abilities to help those in need. He would give almost anyone, sawdust, lumber, firewood or his last dollar if he knew they could use it. Dan's only regret was he didn't get to die in his Sawmill working.
