Clay E. Crawford
Clay E. Crawford passed away in his sleep on Sun., Nov. 23, 2008 in Green Valley, AZ. Clay was born March 16, 1920 in Castle Dale, Utah. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil Singleton Crawford and Edward M. Crawford, wife Helen, brother Edward (Ted) and sister Annette Jensen.
He served in WWII, and after the war's end, he returned to Utah State University and completed his education, receiving a BS degree in Wild Life Management. After graduation, he started his career with the Fish & Wildlife Service. This career would take him on a 30 year journey, working in a great many of the western states, Hawaii, Alaska and a project with the then Atomic Energy Commission in the Aleutian Island chain.
Clay married his high school sweetheart Helen Tuttle of Orangeville, Utah in 1941. Helen passed away in 1963 of cancer. He is survived by their 3 children; Easton T., Orange County, CA; Carol Richmond, Beaverton, OR; James C., Phoenix, AZ; 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He married Mary Kasem in 1967 and was divorced later. He resided in Beaverton Oregon. After his retirement, he married Jane Lewis in 1979. They lived at Fern Springs Farm near North Plains, OR, where they raised sheep, quarter horses and rainbow trout. The Crawfords moved to Gridley Island, Idaho, wintering in AZ, and became full time residents of Green Valley, AZ in 1998. Jane passed away in January 1999 of cancer. Clay married Marjory Black of Boise, Idaho in January, 2000 and they continued to live in Green Valley.
Memorial services will be May 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale (720 North Center Street). Interment will be in the Orangeville City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
