Charles Spears

September 9, 1959 — September 21, 2022

ORANGEVILLE - Charles D. Spears, 63, passed away in his home of Orangeville on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Chuck was born on September 9, 1959 in Martins Ferry, OH to James Frederick and Nancy Hansen Spears. He was married to Patricia Riley Spears in Las Vegas at the Chapel of the Roses on July 30, 1983, where the minister told them that he "Has never seen a couple smile as much as they did".

Chuck was raised in Dunglen, OH by both parents and 4 siblings. He moved to Emery County in the early 80's with his childhood friends and began his coal mining career. He was well known in the coal mining community where he was certified in many areas and helped on the mine rescue. Everyone who worked with him knew him as a hard worker and a Jokester. As he grew to love Emery County he found amazing lifelong friends that he enjoyed hunting and fishing with. Then he married Patty in 1983 and raised 4 wonderful children: Kris, Riley, Alex and Samantha.

His gardening skills were something to be marveled at and he was always willing to share with anyone who would listen or take time. When visiting Chuck you were treated to his exceptional hosting skills, so you always had a drink or food in hand to kickstart the "bonding", Chuck referred to. He had a great love for animals and it was shown by the size of them. The most important part of his life was being a Husband, Papa and Dad. Chuck enjoyed attending the grandkids Karate meets, Baseball games, Dance and Tumbling recitals and other performances. He also loved helping with tasks even if it was just to supervise.

Chuck is survived by his wife: Patty; and children: Kris and Teddy Riley - grandchildren Franki and Broox, Riley and Virginia Spears - grandchildren Koda, Zaylee, Ollie and Nia, Alex and Katie Spears - grandchildren Baby T-Rex and Samantha and Taylor Weihing.

Chuck is preceded in death by his best dog pal Bruiser, his Mother and Father, and his in-laws Mardeen and James Riley.
