Brian Harris

February 14, 1956 — April 26, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brian Reid Harris, age 69, who left us peacefully on April 26, 2025, at his home in Wellington, Utah.

Brian was born on February 14, 1956, in Dragerton, Utah, the first son of Bill and Frances Harris.

A graduate of East Carbon High School, Brian played football and basketball. He also participated in track and field. In 1974, he was the 1A state champion in the high jump. He attended the former Salt Lake Trade Technical Institute in Salt Lake learning carpentry.

Brian spent most of his life in Carbon County where he applied his trade on the Price City Wave Pool, BDAC on the former CEU campus, and the Upper Stillwater Dam in Duchesne County. His favorite was building log cabins. He worked for many years as the superintendent of the PRWID at the Wellington Wastewater Treatment Plant until his retirement.

Brian married the love of his life, Dodie Lynn Cole, on May 8th, 1982. They were blessed with two daughters, Amy Lee and Danielle Ashley. Brian and Dodie loved the Denver Broncos, concerts, the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping with their girls. Dodie passed away from multiple sclerosis, on January 7th, 2009.

Brian and several friends formed a country rock band called Sailin’ Shoes. They played frequently at venues in Carbon and Emery County and played at a bar and grill in Pinedale, Wyoming. Brian played the guitar, and although he never took lessons, he developed his talent and found satisfaction in strumming through the songs of his favorite southern and classic rock bands - especially Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin and bands almost no one else knows.

Brian is survived by his daughters, Amy Lee Harris (Chevy) of Wellington and Danielle Ashley Harris of Magna and three grandchildren; step-children Jenefer Walker, Salt Lake, Shawn (Maryn) Richmond, Murray, and their children and grandchildren. Brian is also survived by his parents, Bill and Frances Harris of East Carbon City; his brothers, Mark (JaLee) Harris of South Jordan, and Carl (Shannon) Harris of Star Valley, Wyoming; and his sisters Kaye (Bill) Baker of Murray, and Sue (Scott) Widdison of Meridian, Idaho.

Preceded in death by wife Dodie Harris, and her son, Christopher; later in life by his girlfriend, Renee Cook.
