Brett John Davis
April 6, 1983-August 10, 2024
ORANGEVILLE- Brett John “BJ” Davis, age 41, was born April 6, 1983 in Price, UT to Sandy Ussery and Stan Davis. Brett passed away August 10, 2024 after a battle with a mental health disorder. Brett was very prideful and never wanted to be defined by his struggles in life. He was doing his best to get his life back on track but life had just gotten too hard and he lost the battle.
Brett was raised in Emery County, UT throughout his childhood and you would rarely find him alone. He was always surrounded with a lot of friends or with his grandparents and cousins. Being the oldest grandchild, there was an extra special bond with gramma and grandpa. You could always find him playing sports and hunting with grandpa or playing video games and being spoiled by gramma. There was no question that he ruled the roost paving the way for his younger cousins.
In early adulthood he moved to Utah County. He worked for H E Davis and Sons for many years with his dad and brothers and even became a superintendent. He received an Associate’s Degree then spent the following 7 years in college changing majors several times, trying to decide what he wanted to be when he grew up. Our family often joked about Brett being a professional student. He later found his way back to Emery County spending a lot of time with grandpa and gramma. After gramma passed, he and grandpa became even closer. They lived together and did their best to master the domestic duties like cooking, cleaning, washing windows, growing tomatoes, laundry, and ironing. We hear that some duties were mastered better than others.
Brett was very competitive and every sport he tried came naturally. Brett was an avid sports fan and had strong opinions about each player and each team. He loved the Lakers years of triumph and gave advice on the best picks for March Madness. His competitive spirit really showed during family game nights at grandpa and gramma’s every Thanksgiving. He loved playing horseshoes and more recently found a love for corn hole too. He also had a knack for electronics and the latest and greatest computers.
Brett is survived by his dad, Stan (Michelle) Davis; brothers, Dallis & Todd Davis; and sister, Ariel Baker, all of Salem, UT; his grandpa/best friend, Jerry Carlson, Orangeville, UT; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sandy Ussery Wright; stepfather, Ron Wright; and Gramma Lois Carlson.
The family will have a private service at a later date. Arrangements are in the trusted care of Fausett Mortuaries where friends and family are always welcome and may share memories online at www.fausettmortuary.com.
